Against bribery – the anti-corruption ring

Transeksta, the association uniting Lithuanian technical inspection companies, has created a corruption prevention system.
It carefully outlines all possible acts of corruption and the signs of how to recognize them. It also provides detailed instructions on how to record and whom to report offers or demands for illegal remuneration.
The technical inspection inspector will have to warn the person offering the bribe about the illegality of such an action and the liability that may arise for it. If the person comes to his senses and abandons his previous intention, the technical inspection will be extended until its completion. Otherwise, the technical inspection inspector should terminate the inspection procedure and record the fact of the bribe offer in writing. This report would fall into the hands of law enforcement agencies - the police and the STT.
For civic-mindedness and uncompromising performance of their duties, technical inspection inspectors will receive an incentive of up to 500 euros. This will be an incentive for the inspectors of the company "Tuvlita", who are the first in Lithuania to implement an anti-corruption program at technical inspection stations.
And what should customers do if they provoke a technical inspection inspector for an illegal reward? Such a recommendation has also been made for vehicle drivers, who can find it in the Anti-Corruption Measures Plan, published on the official website of UAB "Tuvlita" www.tuvlita.lt .
"We hope that the newly implemented measures will be effective and will help effectively prevent corruption. Research shows that despite the previous fight against this evil, there is still no shortage of those who persistently offer bribes. For example, in one week alone, 17 such cases were recorded at a company in Panevėžys," says Antanas Dadurka, Chairman of the Board of UAB "Tuvlita".
Detailed instructions have been provided to the country's technical inspection companies. They will help inspectors understand the proposed bribe, regardless of the form it takes - leaving money in a car, inserting it among documents, trying to transfer it directly during a conversation or through intermediaries, as well as if there are hints about the proposed gifts, services or other forms of illegal remuneration.
The employee will be encouraged to report in writing to the management of the technical inspection center about actions that provoke illegal remuneration, both materially and morally, even if the bribe offerer abandons his initial intention. Information about such a case would not reach law enforcement agencies. However, systematized information about such cases will be published in the unified information system of technical inspection companies.
"We do not seek to punish everyone who may have mistakenly perceived the possibility of obtaining a technical inspection certificate for an illegal reward and at the same time to hand over as many unsuspecting people as possible to law enforcement agencies. Our goal is to curb and prevent corruption," says A. Dadurka.
Since the beginning of July, the corruption prevention system has been operating at all technical inspection stations.
