What are potentially hazardous devices?

Potentially hazardous installations (PHI) are installations that may pose a threat to human life, health, or the environment due to the energy stored in them or the processes taking place within them, and which are subject to the supervision requirements set forth in the Law on the Supervision of Potentially Hazardous Installations of the Republic of Lithuania (ongoing supervision and periodic inspections).

Electrical equipment also includes control, signaling, interlocking, and protective devices, as well as monitoring and measuring instruments.

A commonly used informal term is “registered PPĮ,” because equipment that exceeds the established special technical parameters (which you can find further down on this page) must be registered in the PPĮ registry, which is administered by the State Labor Inspectorate (more >>).

Why is it mandatory to inspect potentially hazardous equipment?

To ensure the safe operation of potentially hazardous installations in accordance with the provisions of the Law on the Supervision of Potentially Hazardous Installations of the Republic of Lithuania, the technical condition of all such installations must be inspected prior to their initial use and subsequently inspected at regular intervals.

During inspections of the technical condition of PPĮ equipment, it is determined whether the equipment complies with the requirements of regulatory acts governing its maintenance and the manufacturers’ technical documentation. During these inspections, visual inspections, tests, and examinations of the equipment in operation are conducted. Specific types and schedules of periodic inspections have been established for each category of PPĮ, which are listed below.

Only authorized and accredited facilities for inspecting the technical condition of PPĮ are authorized to conduct such inspections.

If you only need an inspection sticker, please look elsewhere; we only perform objective inspections of the technical condition of PPĮ vehicles.
